FRONT ROW
EL TRAVIEXO + JAE WHITE + JENNIFER HAWKINS + MEAGHEN STARK
King of Prep Tommy Hilfiger‘s Fall 2012 collection blended the brand’s signature style with equestrian and military-inspired elements. Aptly titled “Town and Country”, the looks played with structured outerwear, chic but interesting uses of leather, suiting, plaids and bridle prints, all in rich shades perfect for the season.
Outerwear had its moment in an array of textures and colors. A red patent leather double-breasted coat, mustard leather jackets with navy trim, a printed peacoat with fur lining: this season is all about making a statement with what’s on the outside of your ensembles.
The bold outerwear was juxtaposed against subdued and pared down looks. The Tommy Hilfiger woman was all about polished sophistication: flirty knee length suede dresses, expertly-tailored trousers, and skirt suits.
The collection’s standout pieces were those that blended Hilfiger’s equestrian prep with a dose of sensuality: airy silk scarf-print dresses and high-waist A-line skirts with thigh-high slits. They showed a bit of skin in contrast with the other looks presented and added a sense of effortlessness and ease to the collection as a whole.

This was a very strong collection from Tommy Hilfiger and right in line with the brand’s classic style. Loyal fans will have more than enough to put high atop their must-have lists for the season and the younger fashionable set will surely be imagining how they can mix and match with pieces from other designers. I loved the rich Fall-perfect color palette that managed to stay away from gray and black, giving us all some new combinations to try when the season rolls around.
