DAILY DISHONESTY

Lauren Hom contacted me about her Daily Dishonesty project which is simply super rad. she’s a graphic designer based in NYC who started a series of hand lettered posters that document the little lies she tells herself on a regular basis. i can definitely relate to all of them. she also takes on weekly guest posts – this one by Emma Hopkins made me laugh. “I don’t know what’s wrong with my phone…” so true.
Lauren also shared a tutorial on her process from start to finish – really inspiring for those of you who want to dabble in hand lettering. you can also buy prints from the series at her Society6 shop.

This one must be my favorite...

SWEET LOOK

sweet things + sweet looks. let’s not over think it.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

ON THIS VALENTINE'S DAY...

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly

themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image.

Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find

in them. If you judge people, you have no time to

love them.

MY BETTER HALF

I was delighted to recently come across graphic designer Amanda Jane Jones‘ blog series My Better Half, where couples share their love stories and a few endearing idiosyncrasies about each other. When it comes to love, it’s the little things that make the heart go pitter patter!

This is a great idea for a wedding gift or anniversary....

TOP FIVE WAYS TO BECOME A TRENDSETTER:

People often ask me what the next big trend will be, and my answer is usually, “I have no idea.” It’s a little like asking someone what the next winning Lotto ticket will be.

This question is a little irrelevant because if you’re in a creative industry, you should be creating trends, NOT following them! Only lazy artists follow trends. Today I’d like to remind us all how to be our own TRENDSETTER :

1. Trust in your ability to create. Creativity means letting yourself make mistakes. On more

than one occasion, I've made a “mistake” that turned into a trend.

2. Take your favorite clothing pieces and think of three ways you could wear it differently.

3. How many times have you seen a trend and thought, “Dang! That was my idea. I should

have done that.” Trendsetters not only come up with ideas, they also ACT on them. If
you have an idea, do it!

4. Have the courage to stand by your ideas. Some ideas come before their time.

5. Keep it simple. Great trends usually follow good old fashioned common sense. Most

people follow trends that make sense.

#SocialChats Partners With DKNY at The EMPIRE HOTEL NYC

Snow bunny show hoes with wifey...xoxo — with Julie Losco.

Julie, Designer Footwear Buying Department - BARNEY'S, accompanied me to the Social Media incubator #SocialChats has taken on a partnership with DKNY for a kick-off launch event for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Held at the Empire Hotel in downtown Manhattan, DKNY is using this opportunity to allow VIP’s to view six beautiful sketches from the premiere issue of #SocialChat’s first coloring book. What’s even more impressive is that said sketches were projected onto the hotel walls and on tabletops via Microsoft’s Surface Tablet. How chic!
