Check out my most recent collaboration with manero.com as their new contributing men's fashion editor!

Grenson x Barbour

Perforated leather. Showroomed uppers. Waxed cotton.

Just a few details that are guaranteed to get your feet excited.

Adding a pedicure to the list is entirely up to you, pero por ahora, just stick to the game plan: upgrading your gait with a bit of British flair.

Introducing the Grenson x Barbour
footwear collection, the limited-edition, well-heeled prodigy of the two UK style icons....

As with most power couples, ya estás familiarizado con los jugadores: Barbour for outfitting generations of quail hunters and hedge fund managers in waterproof garments, Grenson for handcrafting shoes capable of working a royal wedding or a backroom battle of fisticuffs.

You’ll have your pick of multiple designs, including derby boots (think last-second fox hunts) and brogue wingtips (para tus tardes en el club, bragging about the fox hunt). Features vary from uppers built with Barbour’s signature waxed canvas to Grenson’s hand-shaped calfskin leather.

Because every pair is crafted using traditional methods at the Grenson factory, you can trust they’ll last long beyond this season or next. Meaning you just might want to predict what your 2025 wardrobe may look like before choosing between the Egton dark green or Marske sandstone brogue.

Esperamos que ya tengas la pedicura para entonces.

WORKING IT

What the Team at Scoop NYC Wears to Work

This week, we take you to the Scoop NYC headquarters. With stores that are merchandised as the "Ultimate Closet," it's no wonder that the team behind it appears to have envy-inducing closets of their own. Have a look at their ultra-stylish, typical work outfits below.

Photos by Anna Fischer

Jeffrey Cedeno, Executive Assistant to CEO/Office Manager: I like to describe my personal style as urban chic. I am a New Yorker, and have become accustomed to dressing for all seasons. I love combining a rustic pair of leather boots with a brand new blazer, creating a modern silhouette with visual interest. I dress with the idea that if I hop on a plane in New York to Paris and Paris to Tokyo, I would be debonair in all cities.
Jeffrey is wearing a Belstaff vest, a Spurr woven shirt, vintage wingtip shoes (all from Scoop NYC), a Topshop blazer, a pair of Levi's 510 jeans, and a Rado limited edition watch.
Style advice: Layering, along with mixing and matching patterns with texture, are key style guides. Also remember that not everything will fit right off the hanger, so tailoring is a must for the well-groomed man.

2012_02_Susan-Davidson-Scoop-NYC.jpg
Susan Davidson, CEO: I would characterize my personal style as timeless, fashionable, and modern, while always trying to reflect the style of our brand. I definitely have a work uniform: a designer jacket and coat, skinny leather pants or jeans, high-heeled boots, and my favorite scent—Serge Lutens Fleur d'Oranger.
Susan is wearing IRO leather pants, a Vince sweater (both from Scoop NYC), a Lan Jaenicke jacket, and Fendi "Moto" boots.
Style advice: Always wear figure flattering clothes, dress fashionably but not overly trendy, and remove one accessory before walking out the door.

2012_02_Heidi-Hoelzer-Scoop-NYC.jpg
Heidi Hoelzer, Vice President/General Merchandise Manager, Women's: Tomboy chic—I like an easy, effortless look with a bit of rock 'n' roll. Jeans, T-shirt, and a leather jacket is the perfect everyday look for me.
Heidi is wearing an IRO embroidered jacket, a T by Alexander Wang T-shirt, Citizens of Humanity "Avedon" jeans (all from Scoop NYC), and Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain boots.
Style advice: Learn to love layers: They elevate your look and allow you to go from day to night much easier. Always keep a back-up outfit at the office, and don't try too hard—it shows.

2012_02_Scoop-NYC-Simone-Segall-Gabriela-Barreto.jpg
Simone Segall, Product Development Buyer (left): My personal style is a bit schizophrenic. I don't have a specific style, I just make things work. Maybe you'd call it edgy with a feminine touch? People tell me that I make somewhat crazy pieces work, but I always mix them with simple, timeless basics so it all comes together.
Simone is wearing doo.ri lace pants, a Theory tank, a Veda for Scoop leather jacket, an Iosselliani ring (all from Scoop NYC), and Chloé booties.
Style advice: Mix it up. Always add an unexpected element to your wardrobe. Mix old with new, don't get caught on a trend, and never second guess.

Gabriela Barreto, Buyer for Women's Ready to Wear (right): Downtown chic. I don't need expensive things to look like I am dressed to the nines. I have a designer's eye, so it doesn't matter if it's H&M or Céline, It's just how you wear it and the tiny details that make it your own. I think mixing contemporary vendors with designer keeps my look fresh and refined.
Gabriela is wearing Habitual waxed jeans, a Vince sweater, a T by Alexander Wang blouse, a Scoop infinity scarf (all from Scoop NYC), an Hermès cuff, and Sergio Rossi shoes.
Style advice: Choose your clothing wisely. Don't buy disposable trendy items. Look for things you're attached to, and can't leave behind.

2012_02_Scoop-NYC-Derek-Klamerus.jpgDerek Klamerus, Men's Merchandise Assistant: The majority of my wardrobe is made up of effortless, timeless basics. A sweater is the first thing I reach for each morning. I own our SCP cashmere crew in nearly every color, and love to wear them alone or as a tee under another shirt. I have worn the same brand and cut of jeans for years: A.P.C.'s "New Standard." They are a staple in my closet, and I own several pairs. Accessories inject life and seasonality into my outfits. A bright sock, interesting bracelet, cool shoe, or a luxurious bag immediately elevates a casual look.
Derek is wearing a Michael Bastian shirt, a SCP sweater, Scoop NYC x Walkover brogues with Benjos laces, a Miansai leather bracelet, a Burkman Bros bracelet (all from Scoop NYC), Modo glasses, A.P.C. jeans, a J.Crew belt, and a J.Crew watch with a Brooks Brothers strap.
Style advice: It's been said a million times, but timeless, luxurious pieces are all you need for a superb wardrobe. Pair your basics with some unique accessories and a smile and you can't lose.

2012_02_Meaghen-Stark-Scoop-NYC.jpg Meaghen Stark, Marketing and Events Manager: I like to describe my personal style as feminine with an edge, peppered with rock 'n' roll, and always a little on the dark side.
Meaghen is wearing a N°21 by Alessandro Dell'Acqua blouse, Alexandre Birman ankle booties, and a Rachel Leigh ring (all from Scoop NYC), an H&M skirt, and Topshop tights.
Style advice: Invest in key pieces that define your personal style and develop a go-to uniform. Every day is another opportunity to express yourself, so put your best fashion forward!

2012_02_Jennifer-Hawkins-Scoop-NYC.jpg
Jennifer Hawkins, Assistant Buyer for Women's Ready to Wear: My style is egalitarian. One day I might be hippie dippie, the next a little rock 'n' roll, and the following a Williamsburg hipster. It's fun to mix my favorite flea market and vintage finds with my designer splurges! I don't like limiting myself by committing to just one style.
Jennifer is wearing Current/Elliott jeans, a Chan Luu bracelet (both from Scoop NYC), an Eighteenth top, Aldo shoes, vintage necklaces, and a nOir Jewelry ring.
Style advice: Never say you can't pull a look off—you might pleasantly surprise yourself. If it doesn't work out, try another and hopefully it is about more trials than errors!

Ok, and this is what I pictured in my head when I read the whole article....we all have to DREAM!

AT SCOOP NYC EVENT...

Sporting a longer haircut...used my roommates scarf as a neck tie... :)

ON THIS VALENTINE'S DAY...

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them. If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

EDUN’S AFTER PARTY WITH RYAN MCGINLEY AT THE JANE HOTEL

It is a truth universally acknowledged that wherever the most famous people are at a party, that is where everyone else wants to go, too. This was proved for the umpteenth time Sunday night at the after party for Edun at The Jane hotel.

The Jane Hotel has been on a bit of a de facto hiatus from the party scene of late. That is, until Edun, Jefferson Hack and Ryan McGinley took it over Sunday night for a party celebrating the fashion label’s first ad campaign. McGinley photographed the ads, using six species of African butterflies on his models’ bodies, so the space was appropriately outfitted with live butterflies, who flitted throughout the ballroom. Ali Hewson hung with her daughter Eve, while Helena Christensen, Jeff Koons, Courtney Love and Stephen Dorff chatted on the venue’s well-worn sofas.

Initial entry showed a bar seemingly devoid of partygoers, save a few tired members of the press. The main ballroom, with its velvet couches rubbed to a comfortable sheen and its stuffed animal heads and half-ruined disco ball, had been taken over by small screens playing the label’s spring video portraits, where models released butterflies from their gathered silk shorts and vests. Around the screens were roughly 25 people, who sat and talked in lowered voices. Ryan McGinley, who shot the advertisements, overlooked the scene from halfway up the stairs. “I think it’s beautiful,” McGinley said of the images. “There are butterflies over there, too. In those cages.”

If there were butterflies on the mezzanine level, they were either impossible to see because of the crush of people, or they had died from the exhaled smoke of cigarettes. The cages sat relatively unmolested, surrounded by discarded liquor glasses. There was no movement within. Marilyn Minter, Stephen Dorff, Joséphine de la Baume, Helena Christensen and Alexander Skarsgård were all packed together in the space, as were Johan Lindeberg, Waris Ahluwalia, Marco Brambilla and Theodora Richards. Richards wore a tight floral bodysuit from the line with a shaggy black fur coat over it and a scarf over her head, shimmying and posing with Edun’s designer, Ali Hewson. “It’s kind of funny, this line being environmentally friendly and everyone sitting around smoking,” one partygoer said. Richards laughed, “It is fashion week.”

Courtney Love arrived a little after midnight and progressed straight through the near-empty bar and relaxed ballroom before coming to an abrupt stop on the staircase, where she briefly sat. Rose McGowan attempted to navigate around her without much luck. “Who is that?” Love asked. Someone told her. “Oh, yeah.” Love said. It was Grammys night, wasn’t it? “You bet your ass,” Love said, before launching into a harried analysis of the recent passing of Whitney Houston. Jefferson Hack peered around the corner at the top of the stairs. “Oh!” Love said and hurried up the stairs to join the crush.

Back in the abandoned bar, a trio of McGinley’s male models were arguing over what to order at the open bar. “Who cares,” one of them said loudly, “I just don’t want to go back up there. I think some chick from a WB show just burned me with her cigarette."

TOMMY HILFIGER FALL 2012 SHOW

FRONT ROW
EL TRAVIEXO + JAE WHITE + JENNIFER HAWKINS  + MEAGHEN STARK

King of Prep Tommy Hilfiger‘s Fall 2012 collection blended the brand’s signature style with equestrian and military-inspired elements. Aptly titled “Town and Country”, the looks played with structured outerwear, chic but interesting uses of leather, suiting, plaids and bridle prints, all in rich shades perfect for the season.

Outerwear had its moment in an array of textures and colors. A red patent leather double-breasted coat, mustard leather jackets with navy trim, a printed peacoat with fur lining: this season is all about making a statement with what’s on the outside of your ensembles.

The bold outerwear was juxtaposed against subdued and pared down looks. The Tommy Hilfiger woman was all about polished sophistication: flirty knee length suede dresses, expertly-tailored trousers, and skirt suits.

The collection’s standout pieces were those that blended Hilfiger’s equestrian prep with a dose of sensuality: airy silk scarf-print dresses and high-waist A-line skirts with thigh-high slits. They showed a bit of skin in contrast with the other looks presented and added a sense of effortlessness and ease to the collection as a whole.

This was a very strong collection from Tommy Hilfiger and right in line with the brand’s classic style. Loyal fans will have more than enough to put high atop their must-have lists for the season and the younger fashionable set will surely be imagining how they can mix and match with pieces from other designers. I loved the rich Fall-perfect color palette that managed to stay away from gray and black, giving us all some new combinations to try when the season rolls around.
